KOS ISLAND GREECE - OPTIONAL TRIP TO KOS CAPITAL CITY

Kos is the capital island of the same name and it is located in the northeast of the island.

Although a fairly modern city (and this is not due to invasion of visitors), Kos Town has some fairly well preserved locations such as the Castle built by the Knights of St John, which dominates the port and the ancient ruins of Roman buildings.

Located in a deep bay of the island, after the 1933 earthquake Kos town was rebuilt and, although a small town, Kos is attractive with its local traditions, especially enjoyed in restaurants, the beautiful scenery and the historical riches - Roman and Greek ruins.

The city impresses tourists immediately with its huge streets paved with asphalt, but perfectly integrated in green, with many alleys bordered by trees, all showing the existence of a successful urban development. With many archaeological attractions that are found near the town and streets being wide and straight, Kos is ideal to walk or ride a bicycle, the city is even known as the "city of bikes". Shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, tourist information centers allow you to find everything you want.

The port city is unique, picturesque with many boats for tours, yachts and fishing boats. At a short distance from the city, both north and south (the Lambis) or east (Psalidi area) there are arranged beaches with all the facilities including water sports. The only camping zone on the island is in Psalidi.

When you get tired of crowded tourist destinations and you want more scenery and isolated beaches, move away from the sea. Some buses leave from the main station in Kos town. The famous Asklepieion (former center of Hippocratic teaching) is only 45 minutes away and it is also a good opportunity to explore the surrounding villages like Tigaki and Seagulls.
